Haematology Department<\/h3><\/div>
<\/span><\/div><\/div>[vc_column_text]Haematology is a branch of medicine and other biological sciences that focuses on the study of the haematopoietic system, its organs and, more specifically, its amorphous and amorphous components. In the haematology department all routine tests are performed such as:<\/p>\n

  • General blood<\/li>\n
  • Red blood cell sedimentation rate (RBC)<\/li>\n
  • Reticulocytes (ERC)<\/li>\n
  • Testing for G-6-PD enzyme deficiency<\/li>\n
  • Smear test for the investigation of sickle-cell anaemia<\/li>\n
  • Blood groups – Rhesus<\/li>\n
  • Coombs Indirect and Direct<\/li>\n
  • Haemoglobin electrophoresis<\/li>\n
  • Investigation of haemolytic anaemias, screening of haemoglobinopathies e.g. beta-Mediterranean Anaemia (beta-MA), Sickle Cell Anaemia (Sickle Cell Test), Cooley’s disease.<\/li>\n
  • Haematological malignancies, e.g. leukaemias, lymphomas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • PT prothrombin time (INR)<\/li>\n
    • Partial thromboplastin time APTT<\/li>\n
    • Fibrinogen FIB<\/li>\n
    • Thrombophilia factors: antithrombin III, protein C, protein S, APC-R<\/li>\n
    • Anticoagulant for lupus<\/li>\n
    • D – dimer<\/li>\n
    • FDP<\/li>\n
    • Fibronectin<\/li>\n
    • Investigation of coagulation diseases e.g. haemophilia, thrombocytopenia, VonWillebrand.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
