Immunology Department

The immune system is a remarkable adaptive mechanism that protects the body from pathogens and cancer. Immunology is a branch of the medical and biological sciences that studies the functions of the immune system under normal and pathological conditions. In the immunology department, through the continuous development of Molecular Biology and the discovery of new immunobiological markers, tests are performed that lead to the determination of the pathological mechanisms and functions of diseases of the immune system.

With the help of modern automated analysers, even the most specialised immunological tests can be performed directly, thus providing a key role in the clinical diagnosis of diseases such as :

  • Immunodeficiencies, e.g. acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
  • Autoimmune diseases, e.g. systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, myasthenia gravis
    Indicative examinations:
Antinuclear antibodies (ANA), Anti-ENA, Anti-dsDNA, Anti SS-A (Ro), Anti SS-B (La), Anti-Sm, Anti-CCP (Cyclic Citrullinated Peptide Antibody), ASMA, Immunoglobulins IgA, IgG, IgM, IgD, IgE,
    Anti-RNP, APCA, APCA, C-ANCA (PR3), P-ANCA (MPO), CRP, RA-test, β2 – Microglobulin, C3, C4, C Total (CH50), Anti-mitochondrial (AMA), Anti-ovarian anisomalies, etc.
  • Hypersensitivities, e.g. allergies, asthma ( allergen testing – Rast Test* [ RadioAllergoSorbent Tests ])
  • Infectious diseases, e.g. hepatitis, HIV, cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection, toxoplasmosis.
  • Immunosuppressions and cancer markers: prostate, bowel, breast, ovarian, endometriosis, etc.
    Main tests:
A FP, CEA, CA 19-9, CA 15-3, CA 125, CA 50, CA 72-4, NSE, MCA, SCC, TPA, TPS, PSA, reason FPSA/TPSA.
  • Food intolerance test ( CYTOTOXIC TEST ) > Read more <

If you belong to those who suffer from allergies (e.g. rhinitis, conjunctivitis, asthma, hives, but also generalized reactions), without often knowing exactly which allergen (food, plant, insect, medicine, etc.) is responsible for your discomfort, come and let’s investigate together with the help of Rast Test, the usual suspects, allergens, m so that you know if and from what you need to guard against.

It is advisable to undergo such a test if you feel any of the following:

  • If you have respiratory allergies (asthma, rhinitis and conjunctivitis).
  • If you have food allergies.
  • If you have severe reactions to wasp or bee stings.
  • If you are allergic to certain medicines.
  • If you suffer from contact dermatitis (with chemical or natural substances).
  • If you suffer from natural hives (e.g. allergy to the sun or cold).

*The Rast Test (radioallergosorbent test) investigates the subject’s sensitization to atmospheric and household allergens (e.g. pollen and house dust mites respectively), to wasps and bees and to some drugs (penicillin and a specific cephalosporin).

The preparation:
RAST tests do not require any preparation on the part of the patient or discontinuation of antihistamine drugs.

How they are made:
By taking blood from the patient.

Their goal:
To confirm the results obtained from any previous skin tests or to clarify the degree of sensitivity to the allergens in question. Of course, the RAST tests alone and from the outset can provide safe – and more accurate – information about whether or not the test subject has an allergy to specific allergens.

Results:
RAST tests do not simply give positive or negative results, but determine the degree of sensitivity of the test person to the allergen, which is graded from 1 to 6 (high sensitivity).
